Known for their elite grooming style, it is easy to spot a Poodle. Poodles can take directions well and rarely have temperament outbursts. Poodles are incredibly intelligent and known to be one of the worlds’ most trainable breeds. These graceful dogs are cheerful and friendly and love human companionship. Toy poodles make great companions, however they still require leadership, or they may develop “small dog syndrome”, Miniature Poodles are non-aggressive and make very good watchdogs. Standard Poodles can be trained to hunt and are generally calmer than smaller Poodles.
In the US, Poodles come in three different official varieties, Standard, Miniature and Toy. They are all identical except for the variation in size. Poodles can be any of several different solid colors as well as a blend of two colors (Parti), however white and black are the most common for this breed. They are excellent companion dogs and have the added benefit of being hypoallergenic.
Toy: Average Height: Up to 10 inches, Average Weight: 8-12 lbs
Miniature: Average Height: 10-15 inches, Average Weight: 15-25 lbs
Standard: Average Height: 15 inches, Average Weight: 40-65 lbs
