Rottweiler
This working breed has roots as far back as Rome, they gained their name in Germany centuries ago as the 'Butchers Dog of Rottweil'. With a great history centered around driving cattle and protecting the owner and his money, a money purse would often be tied around the Rottweilers muscular neck to prevent would-be-thieves. Even with all of this history, the Rottweiler has only been recognized in the U.S. since 1935.
Rottweilers are devoted and obedient, calm yet fearless. This breed's guardian instinct, obedience, and level headed demeanor makes them well suited for police dogs or guard dogs; while their loving nature towards their master makes them an excellent companion as well.
Rottweilers have massive and powerful bodies with a broad skull. Their short coarse hair is typically black with tan markings on cheeks muzzle and chest.
