Shih Tzu is the ancient Chinese translation for Lion. The smallest of this breed resembles the lion represented in Oriental art and they are now as being highly favored by the royal family. The Shih Tzu is a very proud breed, with a distinct arrogant carriage, yet they are devoted and affectionate.These are sweet, gentle pups that love to be held and pampered, but don't be fooled by their warm expressions, the Shih Tzu also makes a great watch dog!
Although a luxurious, long coat is most desirable, it is now very common for the Shih Tzu to maintain a shorter, more managable "puppy cut." Their hypoallergenic coat comes in many colors and tends to shed less dander, making the Shih Tzu an optimal pet for people with allergies.
