If you were born during 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, or 2018 then this is your year! More specifically if your baby was born in 2018, they will be celebrating the first Year of the Earth Dog. This year will be the 4715th Chinese New Year. In the zodiac, as well as around the world, Dogs are a sign of loyalty.
But what does the Chinese New Year mean besides 16 days of celebration with red ornaments, fireworks, and dinner with family? The Chinese New Year is a time to cast out bad luck and children traditionally receive red envelopes from family with “luck money” inside to bring forth good luck in the New Year. The Chinese calendar moves in 12 cycles and each year is represented by a different animal. The animals are thought to correspond with the personalities it represents.
Within the Year of the Dog, there are 5 different types of dogs: Earth, Wood, Gold, Water, and Fire Dogs. Each type of Dog is only seen in the Chinese new year once every 60 years! As for this year, the year of the Dog, you are known to be serious, reliable in work, and communicative. Just like our real furry-friends, Chinese Zodiac dogs are reliable, loyal, and dependable.
It is known in the Chinese Zodiac that “everyone needs a dog friend”. Do you have a Dog to celebrate the Chinese New Year with today?
