2018 Chinese New Year: Year of the Dog

If you were born during 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, or 2018 then this is your year! More specifically if your baby was born in 2018, they will be celebrating the first Year of the Earth Dog. This year will be the 4715th Chinese New Year. In the zodiac, as well as around the world, Dogs are a sign of loyalty.

But what does the Chinese New Year mean besides 16 days of celebration with red ornaments, fireworks, and dinner with family? The Chinese New Year is a time to cast out bad luck and children traditionally receive red envelopes from family with “luck money” inside to bring forth good luck in the New Year.
